LEARNING FROM OTHERS

One of the many things that kills faster other than death is thinking that you know it all. When you began to ignore others' opinion thinking that nothing good can ever come out of them, then you are in this category.

Your ideas might be useful, but why will you refuse other ideas contrary to your own? You don't need to ignore, just check them out, it might be useful to you.

You should not be part of those who think others are too younger, or of lower standard, or too ignorant to learn from. A knowledgeable person will always admit their mistakes and ready to right every wrong.

To cultivate the habit of learning from others, you have to have a good listening skill. Learn how to listen to others in order to get valuable opinions from them. It might be a very difficult thing to do at first, especially if you like winning an argument at all times. Being swift to hear and slow to speak is a good strategy you can use. There are some things you don't know but when you hear it from others, you listen with rapt attention in order to learn from it.

You can also watch and study others in order to learn from them. Study their ways, characters, and their being. When you watch others, you will realise that there are many other rightful ways in doing things and getting a desired result.

Another very important point is to learn from people's mistakes and success. What steps were taken for them to have fall? Are you taking that step too? For their success, what commitment was made in them becoming successful? These are some thoughtful questions you can ask. Do not wait until experience become your best teacher. Gather that experience from others' experiences and make good use of them.

Lastly, have good relationships. This will help you a lot. When you have good relationship with others, they will always be willing to see you becoming better. Therefore, they advise and guide you on how to get good at things. They will tell you your weaknesses and how to improve in all ways. To see this work, you must have a heart that is ready to be corrected.

Being the best requires learning from others. So, start today.

CUT YOUR COAT ACCORDING TO YOUR CLOTH

There was an event that brought about this topic. On a sunny afternoon, I heard someone shouting in a shop. It was a voice of a woman. The shout was that of a profuse cry. Then, I listened carefully so as to be sure of what the cry was all about. She started mumbling words in-between her cry. These words were mixture of regrets and curses; "If I had known, I wouldn't have brought my phone here to charge. The person that stole my phone will never know peace..." She was raining so much curses that I can't even write here.  By this time, people had already move closer to her to ask what exactly the problem was. After listening to her story, they all started reacting either by comforting her or by raining more curses on the theif. To everyone that is diligently working either as a student, an apprentice, a teacher, civil servant, trader, entrepreneur, or be it any (legal) job or work, I salute you. If you are not working, this article is not for you because a person that is not working should not eat in the first place.
